Small business bookkeeping

Bookkeeping for Small Businesses

Your books done properly. Every month. Without the hassle.

Small business bookkeeping is what I do every day for sole traders, limited companies and tradespeople across Suffolk, starting from £25 a month.

If your records are behind, your VAT is looming or you are not sure whether your business is actually making money, you are in the right place. I have handled messier situations than yours, and I will not judge you for where you are starting from.

How much is disorganised bookkeeping costing your business?

Four honest questions. Takes under two minutes. Find out where the gaps are.

How would you describe the current state of your business records?

How do you currently handle your VAT or tax submissions?

How much time do you spend on bookkeeping tasks each month?

If someone asked you right now whether your business is profitable, what would you say?

YOUR RESULT

Your books need attention before this becomes a bigger problem

Based on your answers, your records are likely behind and your compliance risk is growing. The longer this continues, the harder and more expensive it becomes to sort out. A free call with me takes 20 minutes and I can tell you exactly what needs doing, what order to do it in and what it will cost each month to keep it that way.

YOUR RESULT

You are managing, but it is costing you time and confidence

You have some foundations in place but there are clear gaps in accuracy, consistency or compliance. That time you spend wrestling with spreadsheets late at night is time taken from your business and your life. A fixed monthly arrangement would give you that time back and remove the guesswork from your finances.

YOUR RESULT

Your finances are in good shape, but there may be room to improve

Your bookkeeping habits are solid. If you are still handling it yourself, it is worth considering whether your time is better spent elsewhere in your business. A conversation with me costs nothing and might show you a simpler way to maintain what you have already built.

WHAT I DO

Services that cover your numbers from day to day to year end

Everything a small business owner needs to stay compliant, organised and in control of their finances.

01

Monthly and Quarterly Bookkeeping

I record every transaction, reconcile your accounts and keep your books current so you always know where you stand financially. You do not need to understand double-entry accounting to benefit from accurate books. You just need to know your business is on track.

Core Service
02

VAT Returns and MTD Submissions

I prepare and file your VAT returns on time, every time, using Xero and fully compliant with Making Tax Digital requirements. From April 2026, MTD for Income Tax applies to sole traders and landlords earning over £50,000, meaning digital record-keeping and quarterly updates to HMRC become mandatory. I handle all of that so you do not have to.

HMRC Compliance
03

Payroll, CIS and Self Assessment

Whether you employ staff, work under the Construction Industry Scheme or need your self-assessment tax return filed accurately and on time, I manage the process from start to finish. Every submission goes through me directly, with no handoffs to a junior or an offshore team.

WHY IT WORKS

Why working with a dedicated bookkeeper is different

Not a portal. Not a firm that passes your file to whoever is available. A single person who knows your business.

You deal with me, every time

There is no team behind me. When you call, email or message, you get me. That means I know your business, your trading patterns and your questions without you having to explain them from scratch each time. For small business owners, that continuity makes a measurable difference to how quickly things get done.

Fixed monthly pricing with no surprises

Bookkeeping starts from £25 per month. You know the cost before you sign up and it does not change unless your business grows and the scope changes with it. Fixed pricing means you can budget for it properly and there are no invoices that make you wince.

MTD-compliant and Xero-based from day one

All bookkeeping is done through Xero, which means your records are digital, accessible and compliant with Making Tax Digital requirements. If you are not on Xero yet, I set it up and walk you through what you need to know. HMRC’s requirements are already handled before they become your problem.

FROM CLIENTS I WORK WITH

What clients say about working with me

GETTING STARTED

How we get your books sorted

A straightforward four-step process from first call to fully up-to-date books.

01

Book a free call

We spend 20 minutes on a call going through your current situation, what records you have, what needs fixing and what ongoing support would look like. No pressure, no sales script. Just an honest conversation about your books.

02

Get a clear quote

Based on your transaction volume and the services you need, I give you a fixed monthly price. You know exactly what you are paying before anything starts.

03

Set up and catch up

If your books are behind, I work through the backlog and bring everything up to date. If you are not on Xero yet, I set it up and make sure it is configured correctly for your business type.

04

Ongoing, handled each month

From that point, I take care of your bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and any other agreed services each month. You get on with running your business. I make sure the numbers are taken care of.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions I get asked most often

No. Most clients who contact me are behind on their books by months, sometimes longer. Getting things straight is part of the job. We start by understanding what you have, fill in the gaps using your bank statements and any records you do have, and work forward from there. There is no situation I have not seen before.
Bookkeeping covers recording every transaction that goes in and out of your business, reconciling your bank account each month and keeping your records accurate and compliant. It does not automatically include tax return preparation, payroll or VAT, but I offer all of those as separate services that can be added to a monthly package. Everything is clearly scoped and priced before we start.
Monthly bookkeeping starts from £25. The actual figure depends on how many transactions your business makes each month. I give you a fixed quote before we start, so you know the cost and it does not change from month to month without a conversation. There are no hourly rates and no unexpected invoices.
Very little. Once we are set up, your main job is to make sure your bank transactions come through Xero, which happens automatically when your account is connected. For things like receipts for cash expenses, I will explain exactly what I need and how to send them. Most clients spend less than 30 minutes a month on anything bookkeeping-related once we are up and running.
