Is your corporation tax return under control?

Four questions. Takes 90 seconds. See where things stand with your limited company.

When is your corporation tax return due?

How confident are you that your bookkeeping is accurate enough to produce your accounts?

Have you ever had to pay a late filing penalty from HMRC or Companies House?

Do you currently use any accounting software to manage your limited company finances?

YOUR RESULT

Your corporation tax return needs attention now

Based on your answers, your current setup carries real filing risk. Late corporation tax returns trigger automatic penalties from HMRC, and in 2025 nearly 70,000 appeals were made against those penalties alone. Getting on top of this now costs far less than fixing it after the deadline.

YOUR RESULT

You are on track but there are gaps worth closing

Your foundations are in reasonable shape but a few areas need attention before your return is filed. Clean bookkeeping is the starting point for accurate corporation tax figures. If you are unsure whether your records are ready, that is exactly what the free call is for.

YOUR RESULT

Your records are in good shape

You are well prepared. If you want a bookkeeper to handle the year-end accounts and CT600 filing so you can focus on your business, book a free call and I will explain exactly what is involved and what it costs.

WHY IT WORKS

What working with me looks like in practice

A sole-trader practice is different from a firm with multiple staff and client handoffs.

You deal with one person throughout

There is no team, no handoffs and no call centre. Every question you have about your corporation tax return comes to me directly. You will always know who is handling your accounts.

Fixed monthly pricing with no surprises

My pricing starts from £25 per month and is fixed. You will know the cost before we start, so there are no unexpected invoices when your year-end comes around.

Xero keeps your records accurate all year

I set up and manage your Xero account so that your books reflect reality throughout the year. When your corporation tax return is due, the figures are already in order rather than being assembled from memory.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions about corporation tax returns

Your CT600 must be filed with HMRC within 12 months of the end of your accounting period. Your corporation tax payment is due 9 months and 1 day after the accounting period ends. Note that this is different from your Companies House accounts deadline, which is 9 months after your period end. Confusing the two is a frequent source of late filing penalties.
HMRC issues automatic penalties for late filing. The initial penalty is £100, rising to a further £100 if the return is more than 3 months late. If it is over 12 months late, additional penalties based on your unpaid tax can apply. In 2025, nearly 70,000 appeals were made against automated late filing penalties, which shows how common this is.
I prepare your year-end accounts and file your CT600 as part of my limited company accounts service. For straightforward small companies, this covers what you need. If your situation involves complex deductions such as R&D tax credits, I will tell you clearly if a tax specialist is also needed.
The main thing is up-to-date bookkeeping records in Xero covering your full accounting period. If your records are currently behind or incomplete, that is not a problem. Getting your books in order is part of what I do, and we would work through that before preparing the return.
